I couldn’t help but smile at the irony of this one! Thanks to a surge in people following low-carb high-fat diets in Norway, the country is suffering an emergency butter crisis!
“Sales all of a sudden just soared, 20 percent in October then 30 percent in November,” said Lars Galtung, the head of communications at TINE, the country’s biggest farmer-owned cooperative.
A wet summer which reduced the quality of animal feed and cut milk output by 25 million litres had already limited supplies and the shortage has led some pundits to suggest the world’s eighth-largest oil exporter offer some of its plentiful fuel supply in exchange for butter.
“Norwegians are not afraid of natural fats, they love their butter and cream,” Galtung told Reuters.
Butter is now selling on Norway’s top auction website, with a 250-gram piece starting at around $13, roughly four times its normal price.
But not to worry – Denmark to the rescue, helping to solve the emergency butter crisis for Norway, who are their near neighbours. And update from the Diet Doctor:
Danish breakfast TV has now started a large rescue operation. They’re sending at least 1000 packets of butter to neighboring Norway.
The LCHF revolution has so far only spread from Sweden to Norway and Finland. Danes still fear natural saturated fat, for no good reason. But that’s ok. It means more delicious butter for the rest of us.
It’s nice to see Denmark coming good during Norway’s emergency butter crisis. But perhaps the availability of Danish butter is down to lowered homeland consumption due to that country’s fat tax?
Either way, the whole thing brought a smile to my face. Happy Christmas Norway - enjoy your butter!

Bwaha, nothing happens in Norway, expect this. While Us is getting ready for New Presidents and stuff, and The middle east is in full revolution, we Norwegians are in deep sorrow for the need of butter

forgot the recent terrorist attack?? yeah things happen all over the world, but in some parts of the world things happen more frequently due to higher population, higher population density, economical status and so on…
